Two years ago, The Brady Bunch Movie came to the big screen and showed America just how twisted this bunch of the ’70s really was. The creators of the movie were aware of how everyone loved this all-American family, so they brought them back to save America from “rap music, pollution and street crimes” of present-day Los Angeles. The twist was, the Bradys were stuck in the disco days of the ’70s, still having potato sack races and listening to Mike Brady’s lectures, which no one really understood.
Now, the creators of the first film bring back “story of a lovely lady” and a punch of perky kids in A Very Brady Sequel.
The sequel is just as lovable and “happening in a far out way” as the first. Everything is bright and colorful. Polyester is in, potato sack races are a hit. A Very Brady Sequel offers the values of the Bradys, but adds the humor and grace that made the first movie such a hit.
The adventures of America’s hippest family continue when Carol’s long-lost husband shows up, trying to become part of his daughters’ lives. But he’s an imposter, looking for a stone worth $2 million that the Bradys have in their home. At the same time, there are other plots, such as helpless Jan creating an imaginary boyfriend. Will the Bunch ever catch on to the imposter’s evil scheme? Will Jan ever have a real boyfriend? Will Greg and Marsha find true love in each other? These questions and more pop up in A Very Brady Sequel.
The sequel reunites Shelly Long as perky Carol and Gary Cole as the windbag Mike. Tim Matheson joins the cast as Roy, Carol’s so-called first husband.
The movie also features many of today’s actors in memorable roles. Most noticeable is David Spade as the rowdy hairdresser who attempts to give Carol a new look. Rosie O’Donnell and Zsa Zsa Gabor also appear as two very rich and fancy women.
The makeup artists and wardrobe department flawlessly fit out this excellent cast as exact clones of the original. In addition to a great script, A Very Brady Sequel features perky songs that can only be mastered by this Bunch.
