TAIPEI, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Yushan Mountain, the highest peak in Taiwan at an altitude of nearly 3,952 meters, on Wednesday morning saw its second snow in March, said the island's weather department.
The snow started at around 7:10 a.m. and lasted for the whole morning. It was caused by a cold front sweeping through Taiwan from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to the department.
The cold front has brought rainy and cold weather across the island.
The snowy season on Yushan Mountain runs from December to March. This year, the mountain also saw snowfall on March 13.
The heaviest recorded snow on Yushan Mountain fell on March 18, 1983, with snow on the ground measuring 280 cm in depth. Enditem
