Steven Levitt Biography
Steven Levitt is a well-reputed American author and economist. He and Stephen J. Dubner co-wrote the best-selling book Freakonomics and its sequels. He received the John Bates Clark Medal in 2003 for his contributions to the criminal justice system. He is currently the University of Chicago’s William B. Ogden Distinguished Service Professor of Economics.
He is also the Faculty Director and Co-Founder of the University of Chicago’s Center for Radical Innovation for Social Change, which is home to the Data Science for Everyone coalition. Until December 2007, he co-edited the Journal of Political Economy, which was published by the University of Chicago Press. He co-founded TGG Group, a business and philanthropy consulting firm, in 2009. He was titled one of Time magazine’s “100 People Who Shape Our World,” in 2006.
