Stan is renowned because of his time on Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh, while here he co-hosted a talk show together with Guy Junker, called “Stan Savran and Guy Junker on Sportsbeat.”
He has been working for Fox Sports Pittsburgh when it was called KBL since 1991. He served on Fox Sports Pittsburgh as the host/co-host of Savran on Sportsbeat, shown weeknights from 6:30–7:30 pm for 17 years, the show became the longest-running sports show in Pittsburgh television history.
On Bob Smizik’s online blog on postgazette.com, on July 7, 2009, it got announced that Stan on Sportsbeat was canceled by FSN Pittsburgh, then again it got announced that Stan agreed to a new contract with FSN on July 11, 2009, due to this he became the primary host for Penguins and Pirates pregame shows and will also move to be the host of The Mike Tomlin Show and Mike Tomlin Press Conference.
He was on Fox Sports Radio 970, WBGG (AM) on 3–6 pm weekdays from 2001 to 2006. However, on July 7, 2006, Stan’s radio show was canceled because of the station format change. He teamed up once again on August 4, 2008, with Junker. The two’s show was broadcast in the 10:00 am – 2:00 pm time slot until 2010 on ESPN Radio 1250AM WEAE.
On September 24, 2010, ESPN Radio 1250 announced that they would be switching to Radio Disney and would stop carrying local personalities on their station. Therefore, Stan is back at 970 AM as part of the station switching to ESPN Radio as of October 2010, his show, Savran on Sports, appears in the 12:00 – 2:00 pm time slot.
