This articulate journalist went to Hollywood Elementary School. She later attended Briarcrest Baptist High School when her father died. She also attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. She earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree there. She worked at the University’s television station, KOMU-TV, while still in college. She was also employed by KBIA. The university’s radio station was KBIA.

Her professional career began at Lynchburg’s WSET-TV as a general assignment reporter. She later joined WVTM-TV, where she rose from general assignment reporter to weekend morning anchor. She received an Emmy nomination for her special report “Dirty Downloading.”

She also worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for KCBS-TV, a CBS affiliate in Los Angeles. She was, nevertheless, promoted to prime-time anchor for CNN Headline News. She also reported on a variety of breaking news stories.
