Two Fort Lauderdale teams will be competing in “The Battle of Florida,” an international amateur soccer tournament at Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek Monday through Aug. 6.
Sloga Soccer Club and Leo’s, both of Fort Lauderdale, are part of the eight- team field that will be broken into two groups. The championship game will be played at 8 p.m. Aug. 6.
Two games — one at 6 p.m. and one at 8 p.m. — will be played in each group Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The tournament is sponsored by the Florida State Soccer Association.
TIGERS TRYOUTS SET
The Pompano Beach Tigers semipro football team will begin tryouts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Park in Pompano Beach. The park is located next to Ely High School. Players must provide their own equipment.
