Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

"What do we get to dissect this year?" I get this question every year, especially from my AP students. It's my goal for students to have hands-on experiences dissecting major organs of the body, as well as whole specimens.

This project focuses on some of the major organs: the heart, the brain, the kidney, and the eye.

Students will explore the nervous, sensory, cardiovascular, and urinary systems through a variety of hands-on activities. One of these activities for each system is a dissection. After each dissection, students will engage in a biomedical engineering challenge where they must unblock an artery, prevent sports-related eye and head injuries, and filter waste products.
