Royal Norman is a well-known American meteorologist. He presently works for  Channel 3/3TV based in Phoenix, Arizona as a chief Meteorologist.  Also, she reports at 8 pm, 9 pm, as well as 10 pm on weekdays on 3TV News.  Before, she served on the same channel as the weekend meteorologist. He is a certified meteorologist who has received the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval for radio and television broadcasting.

Royal Norman Career

Norman earned a degree in meteorology-climatology from Arizona State University in 1984. The following summer, he began working at 3TV as the channel’s weekend meteorologist. He later earned his American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for both television and radio broadcasting.

He covered a tornado live from the station helicopter during his first 12 years at 3TV. He was on the air when the under-construction Mill Avenue Bridge collapsed into the Salt River’s raging floodwaters. He also covered the Mount Kilauea eruption in Hawaii. He attended the 50th-anniversary services at the USS Arizona Memorial in 1991, and he was also a member of the original crew of Good Morning Arizona.

Royal and his family moved to Atlanta in 1996 and he rose to the position of Chief Meteorologist at WXIA-TV. Because it never happened in Arizona, chasing hurricanes was his favorite part of living near the east coast. He returned to 3TV in 2001 after leaving WXIA-TV.

He currently serves as the Arizona Family’s Chief Meteorologist, appearing on Good Evening Arizona, 3TV News at 8, 3TV News at 9, and 3TV News at 10. In addition, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Arizona State University’s College of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning in 2017. He has won seven Emmys for weather reporting so far.
