Volunteers for Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services in Boca Raton are aiding seniors with groceries through its newly launched Shop and Share program.

The program matches volunteer shoppers with Rales JFS senior clients in South Palm Beach County who are unable to shop for themselves. The shoppers purchase items that clients request and deliver them to their doorsteps. Once the COVID-19 pandemic is over and it is deemed safe to do so, the volunteers will unpack groceries and spend time with the seniors.

Bambi Lerner, a volunteer for the program, shared her experience shopping for a senior in a news release.

“It was both fun to shop for someone other than myself and it was especially rewarding to be able to shop for someone for whom it’s particularly difficult to do so,” Lerner said.

The agency has availability to accept additional seniors as clients who may receive up to two deliveries per month. They must reside in Boca Raton, Delray Beach or Highland Beach, have an active checking account and be willing to reimburse the shoppers upon delivery.

Seniors interested in enrolling in the program can reach out to Abigail Horowitz, Rales JFS care manager, at 561-852-3333 or .
