The Mid-Season Invitational is preparing to move into its next phase, the Main Event. Beginning May 10, representative teams from the EU LCS, NA LCS, LCK, LPL, LMS, and GPL will fight for the four spots in the Playoff Stage. Here are the five players to watch as the tournament continues.
5. Ki "Expect" Dae-Han
The G2 top laner stunned and impressed everyone with his performance during the EU LCS finals. He had more impact in that series than the most impactful top laner in the league, Vizicsacsi.
The catch is it was only on two champions: Camille and Gangplank.
G2 will need him to flex his champion pool more if they want the coveted MSI trophy.
4. Đỗ "Levi" Duy Khánh
As the jungler for the GIGABYTE Marines, Levi put on a stellar performance throughout the Play-In Stage, helping his team cruise to a 6-0 record during Stage 1, before giving TSM fans a scare and taking the North American squad to five games.
Then, they clobbered SuperMassive in a 3-1 rout. His most impressive finish? 17/0/6 against Isurus Gaming. Look out for this guy, he's dangerous.
3. Hu "SwordArt" Shuo-Jie
The experienced support and in-game shotcaller for the Flash Wolves, SwordArt is a player known for his aggressive and decisive calls in the LMS. However, he has had a history of poor international play.
While the win against SuperMassive was complete domination, the value of the win falls win SUP got unceremoniously 3-1'd by the Marines. SwordArt will be key in cementing FW and the LMS as a region to be feared, if you didn't fear them already.
2. Kevin "Hauntzer" Yarnell
The Play-In Stage did not go well for Team SoloMid.
While it may have partially been due to playing their first games of the tournament while the Gigabyte Marines had six to warm up, it also seemed like TSM came unprepared to fight a team who outperformed expectations.
NA LCS Finals MVP Hauntzer in particular did not have a great series. He will be crucial for TSM's success throughout the tournament.
1. Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon
This past split, Huni proved that no matter what region he plays in, he can still be a dominant force in the top lane. More importantly, he showed that his champion pool is more flexible than anyone previously believed. This is Huni's first international competition as a member of SKT, so look for him to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the team.
