Paul pursued an academic path at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Madison alongside Francis. Here he pursued his interest for technology by earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science. Furthermore, UW Madison provided Paul not only an education but also provided him an avenue for meeting Allison Marie McCarthy; later she would become his life partner.

The personal life of Paul Salmon was as rich and fulfilling as his professional career. His meeting with Allison Marie McCarthy at UW Madison blossomed into a lifelong partnership. The couple’s union was celebrated with a lavish ceremony at Olin Turville Park in Madison, Wisconsin, on September 3, 2004. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and shared dreams.

Paul was a family man at heart. His love for adventure led him to enjoy activities like camping, hiking, and bicycling with his family. A recent achievement that brought him immense joy was fulfilling his lifelong ambition of becoming a private pilot. This new passion allowed him to share the beauty of Southern Wisconsin from the skies with his family, friends, and colleagues.

Paul is survived by his wife Allison, son Sean, and daughter Coraline. His extended family, numerous coworkers, and friends remember him fondly. Unfortunately, Paul was preceded in death by his father Henry Salmon, mother Monica Salmon, brother Francis Salmon, and aunt Christine Salmon.

Following his graduation from UW Madison, he embarked on a career at EPIC in Madison, where he worked as a software developer for EpicCare Inpatient. Paul’s dedication and skill saw him rise through the ranks, eventually becoming a senior manager for the server systems team and a senior software developer on the Genomics team.

Paul’s two decades at EPIC were marked by his innovative approach to software development and management. As EPIC experienced rapid growth, Paul was not only a key player in its expansion but also a mentor to many new hires. His expertise and guidance helped shape the careers of numerous individuals in the field.
