Yes, it’s a cirque. But it’s a dark cirque.
As the name implies, “Paranormal Cirque” is a human circus with all the requisite feats of acrobatic derring-do, but imbued with a sexy, horror aesthetic. The producers, an entertainment organization called Cirque Italia, say their latest show combines cabaret, theater and illusion with the circus milieu.
There are two opportunities to catch the South Florida debut. “Paranormal Cirque” will play North Miami Jan. 4-21 and West Palm Beach Jan. 25-Feb. 3.
What are the acts in the show?
“We have a talented troupe of four gymnasts from Belarus performing a breathtaking act on a set of parallel high bars,” explains Sara Kessler, public relations and media representative for Cirque Italia in an email interview. “Guests will also witness a terrifying wheel-of-death routine displaying feats of strength and balance on a swinging pendulum of doom. Audience members will also witness aerialists glide around the tent on long silks and contort in the air on hoops and straps.”
Additionally there is a magic component — with lots of pyrotechnics — in the production.
Is “Cirque Paranormal” appropriate for children?
Short answer, no. The show has adult language and content. Anyone 13- to 17-years-old must be accompanied by a parent or an adult guardian.
Kessler adds, “As a circus aimed to provide entertainment for mature audiences, ‘Paranormal Cirque’ is able to push boundaries beyond what a typical circus is able to. The storyline is dark and sexy, the show is scary and interactive.”
How much are tickets and how do you order them?

Where are the big top tents going to be located?
In North Miami, you can find “Paranormal Cirque” at 1860 NE 123rd St., in a lot across the street from L.A. Fitness Plaza.
In West Palm Beach, you can find the black and red tent at 1111 N Congress Ave., across the street from the Palm Beach Kennel Club.
Showtimes for both locations
7:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturdays; 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Sundays.
What about parking?
Parking is available next to the tent for $10.
Will there be food?
Look for the usual circus fare of hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes and slushies. The organizers says there will eventually be an ambulance “food truck” on the grounds, but there is no definite date for when that might happen. There is no bar.
