Overwatch's Soldier buff added in the latest Experimental Mode patch notes increases his magazine capacity and removes his bullet spread.
Overwatch players are going to be seeing a lot of Soldier 76 by the time Halloween Terror comes around. Despite the recent buff to McCree, this Soldier 76 buff is likely to catapult him to the top of the DPS Hero tiers. Even though Soldier is always a solid option for sustained DPS, he often pales a bit in comparison to his hitscan cohorts McCree and Ashe. McCree and Ashe, more often than not, can take care of squishy enemies more quickly and efficiently than Soldier.
The latest Soldier 76 is sure to make him the best hitscan Hero in the game.
Overwatch Soldier Buff in Latest Experimental Mode Patch Notes is a Game Changer
Here are the Soldier 76 changes that arrived in the Experimental Mode update on Thursday:
Heavy Pulse Rifle
• Bullet spread removed
• Constant recoil added
• Ammo increased from 25 to 30
Soldier 76 players are accustomed to firing in short bursts to compensate for his bullet spread which kicks in after the fourth or fifth shot. The spread made it impossible to just aim and fire at squishier Heroes without firing in bursts because once it kicked in, shots would fire all over the place. Not only can Soldier 76 now just aim and fire at enemy Heroes with no bullet spread whatsoever, but he's got even more ammo to do so with.
To counter this, Blizzard has added constant recoil to his Heavy Pulse Rifle. This shouldn't affect seasoned Soldier players much though, because they're already fairly used to accounting for his recoil when shooting full clips at enemies. This just means players will have to be mindful of his upwards recoil as they shred lower-health enemies.
