Nancy Hanson Obituary, Death Cause – The district attorney’s office said a juvenile who was inside the Brookline Street home called 911 shortly after 8:20 p.m. Saturday to report the ongoing assault. Responding officers found Nancy Hanson suffering from apparent blunt force injuries. She was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where she later died of her injuries. Investigators said that during a physical altercation, Richard Hanson struck his wife with one or more objects multiple times.
According to the district attorney’s office, a restraining order was issued against Richard Hanson in Newton District Court on Thursday. Newton police Chief John Carmichael said officers were in the process of attempting to serve that restraining order. Massachusetts authorities say a Newton man is facing multiple charges as he stands accused of fatally beating his wife inside their home. Richard Hanson, 64, has been charged with assault with intent to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury in connection with the death of 54-year-old Nancy Hanson, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. Richard Hanson was charged Saturday night and is being held with out bail pending his arraignment in Newton District Court on Monday.
Nancy Hanson has died. The investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, state police detectives assigned to that office and Newton police. The state’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled Nancy Hanson’s death a homicide and the cause of her death was blunt force trauma. Authorities said they do anticipate bringing additional charges against Richard Hanson.
