Hello! My students are in 2nd grade and live in urban Philadelphia. Our school is a low-income school that serves a predominantly Latino and African American student population. 100% of students received government funded lunch and breakfast every day. My students are at a crucial learning crossroads: next year they will being to read to learn, rather than learn to read. Although most of students are below grade level in Reading and Math, they show incredible amounts of resilience and perseverance. My students face a lot of hardships outside of the school environment in a world that was not designed for their success. It is my responsibility, to ensure that my students are on grade level so they can participate in the professional and educational world in the future with a solid foundation of Math and Reading Skills.
