Things got worse when the National Enquirer published details of raunchy texts between Bezos and Sánchez and leaked details of their secret trysts. So who is the woman who managed to persuade Whitesell to walk down the aisle a second time in 2020? Here’s what you need to know about Pia Miller, now Pia Whitesell.

She started out as a model …

Enrolling her as a model at the tender age of seven, Whitesell told the Herald Sun that her mum had seen something in her that she didn’t – “I had a unibrow for a start,” she joked.

But at 13, she won a modelling competition in Australian teen magazine Dolly and quickly made a career for herself, travelling the world for jobs by the time she was 16. “I enjoyed that I had two lives,” she told the Herald Sun. “I was a kid at school, then I was a professional at work. I feel I learned a lot of valuable life lessons at a young age.”

… then got into acting

In 2009, Whitesell won a place at Australia’s prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art to study acting. After scoring a presenting gig and a couple of smaller parts, she finally got her big break in 2014 – as policewoman Kat Chapman in Australian soap Home & Away. She went on to play the role for three years before her character was killed off in a car accident.

She’s been accused of being difficult in the past

As Whitesell’s fame in Australia grew, so did the criticism, with several sources branding her a diva, including Elle Australia, whose editors described her cover shoot as “more difficult to agree on than most international cover stars in this magazine’s history” after she refused to include her sons. Another magazine reported that Whitesell had reportedly “carried on like a five-time Oscar winner” on the Home & Away set.

Defending herself in the Herald Sun, Whitesell said: “In Spanish, being a diva is seen as something positive … so I don’t let it bother me.” She also clapped back in The Daily Telegraph when asked about the Elle shoot, saying: “It’s interesting because I feel like if a male sportsman said ‘no, I don’t feel comfortable doing that’, you would never hear about it. But it’s a different story with women.”

She has two children

Despite her youthful appearance, Whitesell already has two teenage sons, and has occasionally attributed the perception of any diva-like behaviour to how protective she is of them. Unexpectedly getting pregnant at 19, she had her first, Isiah, with her boyfriend at the time.

Then in 2005, she met Australian footballer Brad Miller and the pair had a son, Lennox, a year later, per British media.
