Glamorous Alexandra von Furstenberg is the daughter of Hong Kong based billionaire Robert Warren Miller, an entrepreneur and co-founder of DFS (Duty Free Shops), and his Ecuadorean wife Maria Clara Pesantes Becerra.

Unlike her two older sisters, Marie-Chantal Claire and Pia Getty, von Furstenberg was born in Hong Kong in 1972.

The girls spent most of their formative years in the former British colony. As they grew up, they eventually split their time between Hong Kong, Paris and New York, according to Australian women’s network 9Honey.

She married an actual prince

On October 28, 1995, Alexandra went from heiress to princess when she married Prince Alexander von Furstenberg, the son of fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg and Prince Egon von Furstenberg. The royal lineage originates from southern Germany, in the modern-day state of Baden-Württemberg, and the nuptials took place at the Church of St Ignatius of Loyola in New York City.

The couple have two children, Princess Talita Natasha, born in 1999, and Prince Tassilo Egon Maximillian born in 2001. The couple separated after seven years together in 2002 and eventually divorced.

The same year she married Prince Alexander, she joined her mother-in-law’s design team and during her 10 years there she served as creative director, and later, director of image, Alexandra von Furstenberg was instrumental in the relaunch of the iconic wrap dress, according to the brand’s biography.

After relocating to California in 2005, Alexandra ditched fashion and focused on designing exclusively for the home instead. In 2007, she created namesake Alexandra Von Furstenberg, LLC, a brand that designs and creates modern furniture and home accessories.

Princess Marie-Chantal Claire attended the nuptials held at the couple’s 18,000 sq ft, five-bedroom Los Angeles home, which sits on what is widely considered to be one of the most expensive streets in all of Los Angeles: South Mapleton Drive in the heart of the Holmby Hills.
