Chan, 39, and Cooper, 43, have been dating since 2018. The British actress plays Sersi in Eternals and Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel, while Cooper entered the MCU a little earlier, portraying Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter and the series Agent Carter. In an interview with Elle, Chan’s first mention of Cooper is actually anonymous, referring to him only as her “partner”, indicating the level of privacy she likes to keep. “Over 10 years, you learn the importance of privacy, what you choose to share and what you don’t,” she said. “For me, my comfort level is to have a clear distinction between what is for me and what I’m happy to talk about.” She added, “I’m aware now that anything I say could become a clickbait headline – well, on a slow news day.”

Neither of them share that much on their social media accounts, though they do have the occasional snap together – just don’t expect anything too PDA from the hush-hush pair. Before Cooper, Chan dated comedian Jack Whitehall for six years, though she never spoke a word about this to the media. Preacher star Cooper was previously splashed all over the news with his ex, Mamma Mia co-star Amanda Seyfried, from 2008 to 2010, but he seems to be going about things Chan’s way this time.

Chan is known for using her voice for notable causes. She’s a Unicef ambassador, a leading face for the #StopESEAHate campaign to oppose anti-Asian hate crimes, and she previously teamed up with ActionAid to raise awareness of young victims of sexual assault. It’s not too surprising that Chan’s other half is similarly inclined, also using his star power for the greater good. He’s supported charities from Oxfam and Best Friends Animal Society to Save the Children.

With both at the pinnacles of their careers (so far), their lives are busy. Chan’s fame has skyrocketed since Crazy Rich Asians and, beyond Marvel, she will also be in Olivia Wilde’s much anticipated film Don’t Worry Darling alongside Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, a thriller called Cuckoo and the sci-fi film True Love, not to mention two confirmed sequels to CRA: China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. Cooper, meanwhile, is currently filming a new TV series and has two films, The Duchess of Malfi and Nightfall, both in post-production.
