A Disney+ account is designed to be shared with others because you can have up to seven different profiles. This means that families, loved ones, and friends can split the use of an account, and each profile can have different content filters, watchlists, and so on.

But what happens when you want to reclaim your Disney+ account and stop other people from logging in? We're going to detail the various steps you need to take.

1. Change Your Password

The very first thing you need to do is change your Disney+ password. If you keep the same password, people can continue to log in freely without your permission; they could even give the password to others.

To change your password on Disney+:

  1. On desktop, hover your profile picture in the top-right. On mobile, tap your profile picture in the bottom-right.
  2. Select Account.
  3. Next to your password, select the pencil icon.
  4. This sends a one-time passcode to your email. Enter it in the required field. The passcode is single use and expires after 15 minutes, so don't delay.
  5. Enter your password. Make it wholly different from your old password—don't just add a single character to the end, for example.
  6. Select Save.

Should You Change Your Email?

Hopefully you haven't also shared access to your email address. If for some reason you have, change the password for that too. Alternatively, you can change the email address associated to your Disney+ account; you can do this in the same place you changed your password.

2. Log Out of All Devices

Changing your password is a vital first step because it stops new people from signing in. However, it doesn't kick people out if they're already logged in. As such, the next step is to log out of Disney+ on all your devices.

Frustratingly, Disney+ doesn't provide a list of all the devices that your account is logged in on, nor does it provide any sort of activity log. All you can do is log out of every device simultaneously, then manually log back in to the devices you want to maintain.

  2. Select Account.
  3. Select Log out of all devices.
  4. Enter your password and select Log Out.

You will log out of the device you're using immediately, but it may take up to four hours to log out of the other devices.

3. Delete Profiles

You've now secured your account so that no-one else is logged in or can log back in. The final step is a bit of housekeeping to remove the profiles from your Disney+ account that you no longer need.

  2. Select Edit profiles.
  3. Select the profile you want to remove.
  4. Select Delete Profile.
  5. Select Delete to confirm. This is permanent and irreversible.

It's easy to add another profile to Disney+ in the future if you decide to reshare your account with someone.

Keep Your Disney+ Account Secure

You should be very careful about who you share your Disney+ account with. While it's reasonable for those in your household to all use the same account, you shouldn't give the password to friends and family willy-nilly.

That's because it's easy for that password to end up in the wrong hands—even unintentionally, perhaps if someone falls for a phishing scam. That leaves your personal data exposed and could potentially lead to accounts you hold elsewhere being hacked.

You should apply the same caution to any streaming service you subscribe to, be it Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, or Netflix.
