Gordy Young Career
In 1994, Gordy moved to South Bend to work as an on-air meteorologist for WNDU-TV (NBC), co-anchoring “16 Morning News” with Tricia Sloma. He rose to fame in the neighborhood for his humorous forecasting methods and pranks, such as “Rodney the Rodent,” who declared Groundhog Day a national holiday. He worked on the show for 16 years before leaving in 2010.
He left to pursue independent media projects before becoming the first host and co-producer of “Experience Michiana” on WNIT-PBS in South Bend in 2012. Guest interviews on fascinating places and activities in the Michiana area were included in the broadcast.
He returned to Wisconsin in 2015 to serve as an on-air personality for Magnum Media, a radio network with 25 stations across the state. During this period, he was also the primary stage announcer at the “Tommy Bartlett Ski, Sky, and Stage Show” in Wisconsin Dells for three summers.

In 1994, he relocated to South Bend, Indiana, to work as a weatherman for WNDU-TV. Other honors include 2002 Best TV Personality by the Herald Palladium in southwest Michigan, a First Place ADDY Award from the Madison Advertising Federation in 1993, and Personality of the Year from Madison Magazine in 1994.
