Feb. 20, 1956: Elvis Presley’s first South Florida appearance took place at the now-defunct Palms Theatre (on the corner of Narcissus Avenue and Clematis Street in West Palm Beach), where he performed four shows at 2, 5, 7 and 9 p.m.

Aug. 3-4, 1956: Presley managed to perform seven shows for nearly 16,000 screaming fans over two days at the Olympia Theater in Miami.

March 26, 1960: The King records his appearance on ABC’s “The Frank Sinatra Timex Show: Welcome Home Elvis” at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Sept. 12, 1970: Presley returns to South Florida after a monthlong stint in Las Vegas, performing for a crowd of 12,000 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Feb. 12, 1977: Decked out in his signature white, sparkling jumpsuit, Presley performs for a frenzied crowd of 14,700 at the Hollywood Sportatorium.

Feb. 13, 1977: His last appearance in South Florida before his death six months later, Presley sang 24 songs at the West Palm Beach Auditorium to a sold-out crowd of about 5,900.
