Djimon Hounsou became a model when he was 23 years old, in 1987. He gradually established himself as a model in Paris, the fashion center.
Hounsou relocated to the United States in 1990 in search of greater success. He appeared in music videos for “A-list” superstars like Paula Abdul’s Straight Up by, Janet Jackson’s Love Will Never Do (Without You), Madonna’s Express Yourself, and En Vogue’s Hold On.
On February 24, 2007, while he was still signed by Los Angeles modeling agent Omar Alberto, it was announced that Djimon Hounsou would be the new Calvin Klein underwear model.
