While Cyberpunk 2077 may give you a plethora of ways to attack your enemies, not every situation you come across will be solvable with offense alone. Some foes will be too strong to defeat before they can deal damage to you, and may be strong enough to drop you in one or two blows if you’re unprotected. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to block in Cyberpunk 2077 with a detailed guide.
How to Block in Cyberpunk 2077
To start, you can only block in Cyberpunk 2077 if you have certain weapons equipped; specifically, melee weapons or your fists.
Make sure you have a melee weapon equipped, and once you do, simply press and hold the L2 button as an attack is incoming. This will cause your character to put up their guard, and so long as it’s up when the attack lands on you, you’ll reduce the damage taken from it.
When the Best Times to Block Attacks Are
With that said, there are some moments that are better than others to block in Cyberpunk 2077.
Blocking can reduce the damage sustained from attacks, but it can’t prevent all of the damage sent toward you outright. Likewise, your block can be broken by an opponent’s Strong Attack, leaving you open to a pummeling once it does.
Pay close attention to how much damage you can intercept while blocking, and don’t be afraid to pass on the mechanic to get out of the way of attacks instead. Likewise, pay close attention to enemy attacks to ensure an incoming assault won’t break your block.
