A couple has opened this snackcentric eatery in the former Brasliced Food and Market in the Cove plaza after owning a catering company for a decade.
“We’re introducing coxinhas, the No. 1 appetizer in Brazil,” says Mariana Valentim, owner with husband Rafael da Silva. “These little, drumstick-shaped treats, originally with shredded chicken, are encased in flavorful dough and deep-fried. Coxinhas is Portuguese for ‘little thighs,’ a reference to their shape.”
The tradition stems from her grandmother.
“We’re taking coxinhas to a new level with seven flavors, serving 10 in a cup [$6],” she says. “We’re introducing the concept of Brazilian-American cuisine, like our nine types of loaded fries.”
Coxinha flavors are chicken, cheese, kielbasa, ham and cheese, corn and cream cheese, Nutella and dulce de leche. Nine renditions of loaded fries ($8) include Buffalo chicken. Salads ($7) offer four choices of 20 toppings.
Beverages range from beer ($3-$4) and wine ($8) to milkshakes ($4) and juices ($3), such as passionfruit.
Lunch and dinner are served Tuesday through Saturday, with dinner only Sunday, under an industrial ceiling with metal chairs, yellow barstools and a wood floor. Red umbrellas shade sidewalk seating.
Live Brazilian and mellow beach music are planned.
