Chuck Woolery Biography
Chuck Woolery is an illustrious American talk show host, musician, and previous game show host. From 1975 to 1981, Woolery was the autochthonous host of Wheel of Fortune.
Chuck was also the original host of Greed on Fox from 1999 to 2000, Scrabble (1984–1990), Lingo on Game Show Network from 2002 to 2007, and the original incarnation of Love Connection (1983–1994).

Chuck appeared as an actor with Rosey Grier, Cheryl Ladd, and Stephen Boyd in the mid-1970s film The Treasure of Jamaica Reef. He portrayed himself in the 1989 film Cold Feet which starred Keith Carradine and Rip Torn. In the early 1970s, Woolery performed as Mr. Dingle on the New Zoo Revue children’s television series.
Chuck made his first game show appearance in 1974 alongside Jo Ann Pflug, then-wife during that time on an episode of Tattletales. He appeared as a singer on an episode of Your Hit Parade starting.
Chuck began hosting Wheel of Fortune, at the suggestion of creator Merv Griffin who saw him sing on The Tonight Show on January 6, 1975. Woolery hosted the show for six years.
Chuck was involved in a salary dispute in 1981 with the program’s producers. In a 2007 interview, Woolery stated that due to the program drawing a 44 share at the time of which other hosts were making that much he demanded from $65,000 a year raise to about $500,000 a year.
