Carrie Creel Obituary, Death Cause – Worthy, Carrie Elizabeth Carrie Creel, who was 72 years old at the time of his death, passed away on August 7, 2023 at the St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Bentonia, Mississippi was the location of Carrie’s birth on February 18, 1951. Her parents were James Frank Worthy and Mary Ida Worthy. She received her high school diploma from Bentonia in the year 1969. She first worked for Regal Ware in Kearney Park, Mississippi, then for Mississippi Chemical Corporation in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and then she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Bentonia-Gibbs Elementary school in Bentonia, Mississippi. She graduated from high school in Mississippi.
Carrie tied the knot with Wayne Creel on the 19th of February in 1971. Little Yazoo, Mississippi became their permanent residence, and it was there that they brought up all three of their children. Carrie was an active member of the Bentonia Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday school for a number of years during her time there. Carrie cherished getting together with her friends and family, as well as the time she got to spend with her grandson Zachary Parks.
Carrie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wayne; a son, Caleb Creel (Amanda) of Little Yazoo, Mississippi; a daughter, Colby Parks (Troy) of Bentonia, Mississippi, a grandson, Zachary Parks of Bentonia, a son-in-law Luke Morris of Pontotoc, MS, a sister Frances Dozier of Little Yazoo, Mississippi and a host of other family members and friends.
Carrie’s mother, Mary Lewis, stepfather, Matt Lewis, father, James Frank Worthy, brothers, Tom Worthy, James “Buddy” Worthy and Alvin Otto Worthy; sisters, Faye “Sally” Worthy Williams and Jackie Ann Worthy; and by a daughter, Caren Creel Morris, all passed away before she did. Carrie’s daughter, Caren Creel Morris, was the last member of Carrie’s immediate family to pass away.
On Friday, August 11, 2023, the visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the funeral service, which will be presided over by Rev. J. J. White, will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Bentonia Baptist Church. The services are being handled by Stricklin-King Funeral Home at this time. Jarrad Creel, Jace Creel, Terry Dozier, Paul Dozier, Corey Worthy, and Otto Worthy are tasked with the responsibility of carrying the casket.
