Brittany Delpit Obituary – Car Accident: 34-year-old woman dead, several injured after two-vehicle collision near the Causeway Boulevard exit.
One woman died and other others were injured in a deadly crash that occurred on I-10 West early on Saturday.
34-year-old Brittany M. Delpit was identified as the deceased victim of the crash, according to Louisiana State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 11 a.m. close to the Causeway Boulevard exit.
According to troopers, Delpit struck a crash attenuator after losing control of her 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt when she reached the exit lane. Her car spun across the I-10 westbound lanes as a result of the incident.
A 2020 Ford Eldorado minibus carrying 17 people collided with the Chevrolet at the same moment as it was driving west on I-10.
Delpit, according to state police, was not using a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and sustained fatal injuries.
A few people on the minibus were transported to a local hospital due to minor injuries they had received in the collision.
I-10 West had to be closed while law enforcement dealt with the collision.
According to a press release from authorities, the accident involved two automobiles.
“Due to a fatal collision involving two vehicles, the westbound lanes of I-10 at Milepost 229 are presently closed,” the Louisiana State Police reported on Saturday afternoon. “To ensure the safety of all motorists, traffic is being redirected off of I-10 and onto Causeway Boulevard.”
In a press release regarding the collision at 11:33 a.m., the Jefferson Parish government stated that the fire department was on the scene.
