Rich in authenticity, though nearly overwhelmed by kitschy German ornamentation, Old Heidelberg has long been a go-to Fort Lauderdale spot for large servings of great beer, like a Warsteiner, even if you aren’t very knowledgeable about German food. But the kitchen is the heart of Old Heidelberg. While the restaurant’s liquid menu has always been the main draw for us, we can attest to the tender brilliance of the sauerbraten (which came in a very large portion), and the bratwurst is about as good as it gets as a partner for that Warsteiner.
