The Apex Legends Christmas event, Holo-Days, starts today, Dec. 1. The event is planned through the first week of January, ending on the fourth. Start times vary by time zone with EST beginning at 1 P.M.
Last years Christmas event was centered around Mirage, but this year doesn't seem to have a central figure. An array of new skins and other unlockable features will be available throughout the event, including a limited game mode.

Apex Legends Christmas Event: What to Expect
This years' Holo-Day Bash is bringing back the Winter Express as a game mode to give players a fun new to play Apex Legends. Winter Express is a game mode where squads compete to take control of the Winter Express. The train stops at multiple stations with squads who last controlled in respawning directly on top of it.
There will be a reward tracker to make it quick and easy to keep tabs on all the new features players can and will unlock as they play during the event. Rewards range from Christmas themed legendary skins to weapon charms.
